Brief description:

Cavalry is a 2D animation software specifically designed for graphic designers and motion designers. It stands out for its node-based approach, which simplifies automation and the creation of dynamic animations. Its intuitive interface offers flexible tools suited to both simple animations and complex systems. Cavalry is particularly appreciated for vector animation and its advanced text animation features, providing unique versatility for motion design and print.

For the past two years, Cavalry has been offering a free version of its software. This "Light" version includes almost all the tools of the Pro version, making it a truly usable software. Cavalry has thus established itself as an excellent alternative to After Effects, or as an ideal complement for creators looking to explore new animation concepts. This workshop will focus on two essential aspects of Cavalry that complement each other perfectly: typography and duplicators. We will cover:· Variable typography animation,Creating custom typefaces, Using effectors, Different types of duplicators, Exporting as videos or vector files. An ideal workshop to discover or deepen your understanding of Cavalry’s potential for your creative projects! This workshop is open to everyone, and no prior animation experience is necessary.

Biography:

Antonin Waterkeyn is a Belgian art director and motion designer. A graduate of La Cambre, a renowned art school in Brussels, he began his career in Paris as a freelance motion designer before co-founding the studio Mada Mada. He later moved to Bordeaux, where he has been living and working for the past seven years.

With 17 years of experience in animation and graphic design, he works with various motion design software, including After Effects, artificial intelligence, and Cavalry, the latter of which he has specialized in for the past two years. His work has been showcased at festivals such as Demo Festival and Motion Motion Festival.

He has collaborated with cultural institutions such as The National Museum of Norway and the Musée d’Aquitaine, as well as with brands like Galeries Lafayette, Christie’s, the Théâtre de la Monnaie in Brussels, and the Quinzaine des Réalisateurs at Cannes, among others. He also works with studios and agencies such as Base Design and DIA Studio.

In parallel, he teaches Motion Design at ECV Bordeaux.
